Led by our Managing Director Hrefna Sif Jónsdóttir, the session took attendees behind the scenes of our ongoing efforts over the past year to prioritise employee wellbeing. What started as a goal to enhance our already positive internal culture evolved into a company-wide initiative.
The data speaks volumes: a year into our dedicated initiative, Tixly has made significant strides in fostering open conversations around mental health and strengthening internal support systems. But the real impact is in the personal experiences shared, and that our team feels valued, safe in the workplace and heard.
During the presentation, we surveyed attendees on their experiences with work-related mental health challenges. The results were eye-opening, with over 80% indicating they had faced such issues to varying degrees. This drove home just how important, and overdue, this conversation is not only in our industry, but in a much broader, corporate context as well.
Are you struggling with the balance between work and personal life?
Have you experienced mental health issues related to your job?
Furthermore, Hrefna shared her personal experiences navigating work and family responsibilities. As a woman in leadership, Hrefna has been a driving force behind this initiative, her personal experiences fueling her determination to challenge stereotypes and create an environment where flexibility and support are the norm, not the exception.
"This journey has reinforced my belief in the power of leading by example. As a working mother, I've felt the societal pressure that is often put on women to prioritise their families and homemaking rather than also having their own career ambitions. Within my home, the situation is a bit different as my husband often is the primary caretaker as my professional responsibilities have grown over the years. I’m passionate about showing that women can truly do both if they want to and I’m proud of leading by example. These experiences fuel my drive to build a company culture where wellness and balance is prioritised.”

Our approach extends far beyond policies on paper. We've invested heavily in resources like our partnership with Kara Connect, an extensive employee assistance platform offering services from therapy to legal counsel. This holistic approach ensures our team members have access to comprehensive support when needed.
But our work doesn't stop here. As we continue expanding Tixly and our performing arts ticketing software globally, nurturing this culture of care grows more vital. We're actively challenging industry norms, from our recent strategic hire of a female development lead to our cross-departmental committees dedicated to fostering inclusivity and open communication.
To our clients, partners and the wider ticketing community - let's keep this conversation going together. Let’s move past mental wellness as an aspirational goal, but a fundamental pillar of successful workplaces. When employees thrive both professionally and personally, everyone benefits.
At Tixly, we're proud to spark this dialogue and lead by example, both in event ticketing and in caring for our team. But we don’t have all the answers - we’re learning as we go, guided by innovation and nurturing our employees. Join us on this journey, and together, we'll redefine what it means to prioritise mental health at work.
