Founded in 1748, The Royal Danish Theatre is Denmark's national performing arts institution, home to the Royal Danish Opera, the Royal Danish Ballet, and the national drama company. Operating under the Danish Ministry of Culture, it presents opera, ballet, spoken theatre, and concerts across three landmark venues in Copenhagen: the historic Old Stage at Kongens Nytorv, the Copenhagen Opera House on the harbour front, and the Royal Danish Playhouse near Nyhavn. Each year, it serves hundreds of thousands of audience members and sits at the centre of Denmark's publicly funded cultural life.
A multi-venue go-live of real scale
Running opera, ballet, drama, and concerts across three distinct venues inside one organisation is one of the more demanding implementations a ticketing platform can support. It requires consistent operations and audience data management across art forms and spaces that each have their own rhythms, audiences, and programming logic. The Royal Danish Theatre now manages all of that in one place.
"With a clear ambition for The Royal Danish Theatre to be world-leading in digital guest experience within the performing arts, we have now launched a comprehensive transformation of all our customer-facing touchpoints. We are therefore delighted to have Tixly as our chosen ticketing solution and partner on this journey. Our ambitions are closely aligned, and I look forward to building a strong and forward-looking collaboration."
Henrik Sten Petersen, COO, The Royal Danish Theatre
The Royal Danish Theatre joins more than 270 venues across 16 countries on Tixly, and this go-live strengthens our position as the platform of choice for performing arts organisations. For a company with Nordic roots, welcoming Denmark's national theatre onto the platform is a moment we're particularly proud of.
"The Royal Danish Theatre is one of Europe's great performing arts institutions, and we are proud to be their ticketing partner. An organisation of this scale and heritage, running opera, ballet, drama, and orchestral concerts across three venues, is exactly the kind of partner Tixly is built for. We look forward to helping them serve their audiences well for many years to come."
